DETROIT MI- MTV\'s Sway has just signed on to be a presenter at the 12th Annual Urban Wheel Awards (UWA). The star-studded UWA ceremony will take place on January 15th, 2008, at the famed Fox Theatre in Detroit. Sway, who is a pivotal member of MTV\'s News team, joins a long list of celebrities who will take part in this year\'s event--considered the Academy Awards of the car industry.
The UWA honors pioneering automotive Industry leaders who transcend the mainstream and embrace diversity to create products and services that appeal to a larger customer base. This star-studded, fashion-conscious, car-savvy audience will be treated to an evening extravaganza the likes of which they have never before experienced. This is the only awards forum that recognizes the top African-American, Asian and Latino executives in the automotive and ancillary industries. There will be A-List entertainment, industry leaders and Hollywood stars presenting the UWA awards in 12 categories. Surrounded by the ambiance of the Fox Theatre, known for the numerous stars that have graced its stage, the UWA is an event like none other.
An entertainment veteran, Sway is considered an icon of hip-hop culture. He co-hosted one of the most popular radio shows in the country during the \'90s before joining the MTV stable in 2000. During his tenure at the network, he has documented some of the most important events in entertainment and pop-culture history--even covering the Democratic and Republican National Conventions for the youth generation.

\"For me this is an important event, as African Americans are a vital consumer base for the auto industry--particularly the Urban youth market,\" says Sway, who first caught the public\'s eye in the late \'80s/early \'90s when he and his partner, King Tech, hosted the popular radio program \"The Wake Up Show.\" The pair went on to produce hit albums as well as host a television show on MTV together.
